Daisy's Story

Daisy is an 11-year-old Gypsy Vanner / Quarter Horse cross. Many of us are familiar with the multi-talented American Quarter Horse, bred to run the fastest speed over a quarter mile; but we may not be as familiar with the Gypsy Vanner breed, beloved of traveling gypsies who needed small, sturdy horses to pull carts across long distances. Daisy's long mane and tail, her strong feet (which don't require horseshoes), and her heavy coat are a few of the wonderful attributes of the "Gypsy Horse."

At 14.2 hands tall, Daisy is technically a pony, though she certainly considers herself every bit as important as her taller herd members and often reminds them of her status by whinnying loudly at the geldings in order to correct their behavior!

Daisy spent several years in TX as a young broodmare with no name. She was purchased by a rider in Pojoaque who helped to rehabilitate and retrain her, and who gave her the lovely name she now carries. Although she's been with Equi-Librium for only a few months, we can already tell how perfectly Daisy fits into the program and how much she enjoys being an equine facilitator. With her multi-colored eyelashes and deep, warm eyes, she'll make you swoon -- and then she'll show you how to find your balance.
